Preparing students to face cybersecurity dangers

The recent urgent use of tracking apps has led to an increase in privacy hacking problems. Recent studies show that our children and homes are most vulnerable to cybercrime attacks. This is largely due to the increased use of educational games and other applications during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is thus critical to educate students at all levels in the safe handling of modern communication and educational applications and to demonstrate the danger of disregarding safe use. To achieve this end, the Secure Circles Groyp Foundation for Consulting and Information Technology has launched a local pioneering program to address computer and smart device security.

This curriculum, which aims—as stipulated in the fth self-evaluation criterion—to improve students’ protection from the dangers of cybercrime, provides students with a certicate of electronic safety. The curriculum also seeks to care for students by providing them guidance and support (especially in managing cyberbullying and other forms of harassment, such as controlling, stealing, and intimidating) and by helping them avoid istorted thoughts and beliefs about evil.

This certicate program is appropriate for students between the fth and twelfth grades. The curriculum teaches modern methods for safely using both computers and mobile devices with both Android and IOS systems. The curriculum is offered in multiple languages, including Arabic and English. Materials for the Student Digital Safety Certicate program include a printed book and an electronic platform designed to go with it that contains educational videos, exercises, and practical applications with clearly stated objectives.
